Day 1: Arrival at Paro international Airport – Drive to Thimphu

Our representative your guide and driver from Charisma Bhutan Tours & Treks will welcome you at the arrival at Paro Airport. After check in and having lunch at Le Meridian than explore Thimphu city:

  • Memorial Choeten, it was built in 1974 by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden in memory of her son, Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast we will explore Thimphu city:

  • Simtokha Dzong, Simtokha Dzong is the oldest Dzong in Bhutan built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629, it is believed to have been built over a stone onto which Zhabdrung Rinpoche pinned down a demon and subdued it.
  • Textile museum, it was established in the year 2001. The museum contains Bhutanese textiles, arts, crafts and more importantly the royal collections.
  • Folk Heritage Museum, ancient tools, materials, baskets and Bhutanese ancient things.
  • Takin Resrve, Bhutan National Animal and other animals

Day 3: Thimphu – Drive to Paro

After breakfast drive to Paro and after lunch visit the site:

  • Paro Dzong, was built in 1644 under the command of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Today, it houses both district administration and monastic body.
  • Kichu Lhakhang, the temple is one of the two among 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century to subdue a demon that lay supine across Tibet and Bhutan.
  • Ta Dzong (national museum), the dzong was built in the mid-17th century as a watchtower overlooking Paro Dzong. The circular Dzong houses the National Museum of Bhutan.

Day 4: Paro – Taktsang monastery hike

After breakfast, drive towards Taktsang base from where the hike begins.

  • Taktsang monastery, the face of a rocky cliff Taktshang is perhaps the most famous monastery in the country. The monastery was named Taktshang after Guru Rinpoche flew there from riding on a tigress to subdue a demon.
  • Drugyal Dzong, the Dzong was built as one of the principal Dra Dzong (defence dzongs), the Dzong was built to celebrate the victory over Tibetans.
  • Kichu Lhakhang, the temple is one of the two among 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century to subdue a demon that lay supine across Tibet and Bhutan.

Day 5: Departure

After breakfast, your guide and driver will see you off at Paro International airport.
